This Apple TV sci-fi series is one of the genre’s best releases in recent years, and it is so good that the streaming service has already renewed it for two more seasons. In the streaming age, early renewals are not a common event. In fact, many shows do not know if they will come back for new seasons until months after their debuts.
Apple TV’s roster of shows features a mix of those. For instance, shows like For All Mankind, which will end with its announced sixth season, have been renewed for new seasons before a season premiere. This practice is quite helpful, as it allows creators the necessary time to plan the show’s future. However, one of Apple TV’s best sci-fi shows, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, awaits a season 3 renewal after season 2’s conclusion.
Apple TV is also a streaming service that has set another incredible and rare precedent for the TV industry. After all, the global hit spy series Slow Horses has already been renewed for two more seasons, 6 and 7. The streaming service has also done the same for one of the best sci-fi shows in the last few years, and it is very much deserved.
Silo is the Apple TV sci-fi series that has already been renewed for two more seasons. Led by Rebbeca Ferguson, the dystopian sci-fi series will return in 2026 with season 3, and season 4 is confirmed to be on the way.
Apple TV’s Silo Is Renewed For Two More Seasons (& That’s It)
Silo debuted on Apple TV on May 5, 2023, based on the book franchise created by Hugh Howey. Silo season 2 concluded on January 17, 2025, providing a deeper exploration of the sci-fi series’ dystopian world and setting up a huge shift for season 3. Apple TV put so much faith in the show that Silo was renewed for seasons 3 and 4 on December 16, 2024, at exactly the halfway point of the sci-fi series’ second season, as five episodes of Silo season 2 had aired at the time, with another five still to go to conclude the season.
Silo boasts a near-perfect 90% Rotten Tomatoes score.
In doing so, the streamer confirmed that Silo season 4 would be the final entry in the sci-fi series, with both seasons 3 and 4 being shot back-to-back. This would allow for the show to have minimal gaps between seasons, which is greatly appreciated in the streaming age, as hit shows like Stranger Things, Severance, and more have faced multi-year hiatuses. Silo ending with season 4 has nothing to do with the show’s quality, as it is actually one more season than expected, given there are three core books in the franchise for the dystopian sci-fi series to pull from.
Silo Should Be A Completely Different Show In Season 3
When Silo season 3 debuts on Apple TV on July 3, 2026, fans should expect a very different show. Sure, Ferguson’s Juliette Nichols will be back trying to uncover the many mysteries of this post-apocalyptic reality, especially since learning that Silo 18, her home, could be terminated by poison. However, the Apple TV sci-fi series will not only focus on Juliette’s quest to save her loved ones and everyone back in her silo, as the dystopian show will also be following a new timeline, exploring the events that led to the apocalypse.
The shift between present and past timelines was teased at the end of Silo season 2, when time turned back to show a journalist asking a United States congressman about the country’s plans in response to an alleged dirty bomb attack by Iran. Silo season 3 marks the start of a new era for the sci-fi series, and based on how the show has delivered many intriguing new questions and satisfying answers with every new season, Silo season 4 will undoubtedly be set up in the best possible way to end this generational dystopian story.
