It may have come to an end back in 2019, but the love for Game of Thrones has far from dwindled. Thanks to the recent success of its spin-off shows, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the world created by George R.R. Martin still boasts an impressive and dedicated fanbase, so it is perhaps no surprise that any new release is an instant hit.
The hit in question is Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, a Game of Thrones-inspired video game available to play on Android. Published by Warner Bros. Games, it tasks players with commanding legendary dragons, forging powerful alliances, and conquering the Seven Kingdoms. In this strategy game set across Westeros and beyond, players will need to build their army, raise a fearsome dragon army, and wage war all in the name of the Iron Throne.
Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is an epic 4X strategy war game where you lead your House through conquest, diplomacy, and dragon warfare in the most immersive medieval fantasy game on mobile.
Now sitting at the #8 most-played strategy game on Google Play, it seems as though Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is capturing the hearts and minds of Game of Thrones fans, and comes at the perfect time as season three of House of the Dragon is currently airing.
It is so successful, that the Warner Bros. title currently boasts a 4.7 User Score on Google Play, with 20,000 reviews under its belt. As such, there are plenty of five-star reviews to read, with many praising the game for not having too much emphasis on pay-to-play content.
“I was actually pleasantly surprised at the game,” one five-star review reads. “I figured it would be another way for WB to cash in (and don’t get me wrong, it’s there), but there was a lot of thought that went into the seasonal approach and keeping whales from snowballing constantly. The game (right now) rewards early and long-term play. You carry dragons and special unlockables between seasons, but everything else resets. P2W is there but doesn’t seem to be super prominent. Promising game, we shall see!”
Another said, “I am new to this type of game but so far I find it entertaining. There are plenty of things to do and learn. They GOT me with this game. I haven’t spent any money yet, which I usually don’t on mobile games. If I continue to play, and it stays interesting I wouldn’t mind spending a small amount of money occasionally.”
At the time of writing, Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is only available to play on Android, but if you are eligible to play, you do not want to miss out on this hit strategy game, especially if you are a fan of the Game of Thrones universe.
