Ever since Pokémon had its first collaboration with LEGO, plenty of fans have been waiting to see what the next adaptation of a classic Pokémon or scene from the series will be. While the 30-year-old franchise has no shortage of generations, characters, and creatures to incorporate into the LEGO hall of fame, it seems like they’re still sticking with the classics for now, according to a recent leak.
Although there’s still no confirmation yet on whether the supposed release date and price range are accurate just yet, it’s safe to say that the upcoming leaked design is one of the best-looking Pokémon crossovers we’ve seen yet from LEGO.
Posted by flapjack626 on Reddit, the leak showcases a new 18+ set for the Pokémon Arcanine, which will feature a considerable 1190 pieces in total. The leak also revealed that the new set is scheduled to be released on August 1, with a retail price of roughly $110 USD.
Over-doubling the piece count and size of the previous Eevee set, the Arcanine will help fill a solid niche between the smaller set and the much more expensive models like LEGO’s take on Pikachu and the three starters of Kanto. The fantastic amount of detail on display seems to fix the biggest complaints regarding the oddly shaped faces of the previous two Pokémon sets.
Primarily consisting of three colors, the Arcanine LEGO set will also add even more options when it comes to custom alternative builds to help fill out some of the other Pokémon that are far less likely to get their chance in the spotlight.
Although there has been some debate over the supposed $110 price point of the LEGO Arcanine set, considering the current pricing trends for releases with similar piece counts, it’s still a gorgeous design that lends itself even better to the harsher angles LEGO can provide with its wide variety of pieces.
Given that the previous LEGO x Pokémon release saw several sets launched at the same time, we can also expect the LEGO Arcanine set to similarly be paired with a few other options to add to your collection. This lineup is currently rumored to include a new Mewtwo Lab playset alongside a handful of other releases arriving this summer.
While we’ll have to wait a few months before we can get our hands on the leaked Arcanine set itself, LEGO has no shortage of material to pull from, and several exciting new releases in store to look forward to for Pokémon fans.
