Wolverine remains one of the most iconic characters in the Marvel universe, with a fierce personality and unforgettable presence on screen. Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the beloved antihero has become one of the most iconic performances in superhero movie history, defining the character for an entire generation of fans.
Because of the lasting impact of his performance, any actor stepping into Wolverine’s shoes faces enormous expectations, as audiences continue to compare every new interpretation to Jackman’s legendary version of the character. However, as we count down the days until the official release of Marvel’s Wolverine from Sony and Insomniac Games set to debut this September, fans almost universally agree that the new Wolverine voice actor is beyond worthy of the role, despite only brief glimpses at what’s in store (via Reddit).
There’s no question that Marvel’s Wolverine is going to be an absolute sensation among Marvel fans when it finally debuts this summer, and aside from Grand Theft Auto 6, it may be one of the most hyped video game releases of the year. While fans have only had a limited look at the new voice actor’s rendition of Wolverine, they don’t need much more convincing.
In response to a recent social media post on X from the new Wolverine voice actor, Liam McIntyre, fans have started to highlight how on-point he sounds based on trailer footage alone. “He sounds pretty much how I imagine Wolverine to sound,” says one Redditor, with Affectionate_Eye_942 highlighting the “gruffness” in his voice. Fans like BrassMonkey916 are “the most hyped I’ve ever been for a game … [and] can’t wait to see [his] performance.”
McIntyre worked on this project for well over a year, even noting his involvement has stretched “almost as long as my son has been alive,” and fans have expressed their appreciation already in droves, well before the game has even launched.
While it’s certainly a huge undertaking to take on the role of one of the most beloved and iconic antiheroes in existence, McIntyre has already proven himself worthy based on his time commitment and dedication to the project. It’s exactly what fans deserve from a Wolverine actor, and there’s little doubt that players are going to be blown away by his performance in the full release.
Marvel’s Wolverine is being developed by Insomniac Games, developers behind the iconic Marvel’s Spider-Man games and Ratchet & Clank series. It’s being released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, which isn’t all that surprising, even if it comes as a bit of a disappointment to PC gamers worldwide. Marvel’s Wolverine is officially scheduled to release on September 15, 2026, and fans are counting down the days.
