MobLand has left Tom Hardy to sleep with the fishes.
MobLand is one of Paramount’s best-performing series aside from Taylor Sheridan-created shows. The impressive cast includes Hardy, Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Joanne Froggatt, Paddy Considine, and more. Season 1 of MobLand has an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 76% from critics and season 2 doesn’t have an official release date, but is expected to arrive towards the end of the year.
Puck News has reported that Hardy has been fired from MobLand ahead of season 3’s production after alleged clashes behind-the-scenes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser. Allegedly, Hardy was late on set often during season 2’s production and was giving unwarranted notes on scripts, changed dialogue and expressed his displeasure with the series having an ensemble showcase of stars including Mirren and Brosnan.
Butterworth threatened to quit, according to a source, leaving Paramount no choice but to fire Hardy. At the time of writing, Paramount and Hardy have yet to comment. It’s unclear how Hardy’s firing will impact the future of the series, as season 2 will still feature the star, but reportedly won’t be involved in season 3.
More to come…
