Stewart first brought Professor X to the big screen in 2000’s X-Men. The movie followed the titular team who try to coexist with the humans who fear or hate the mutants. After Stewart was confirmed to return as Professor Charles Xavier in Avengers: Doomsday, rumors have swirled on the internet about the MCU film being his last project before retirement. However, fans of the legendary actor shouldn’t be concerned just yet. In an interview with TV Insider, Stewart cleared the air about whether he was leaving the entertainment industry.

During the discussion, Stewart shut down those rumors. He revealed that he has no plans to step away from Hollywood anytime soon and that Avengers: Doomsday would most certainly not be his last movie. While he did acknowledge that opportunities and roles naturally become less frequent with age, he isn’t leaving acting behind, at least not in the near future.

His statement doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as the actor has remained very active in recent years. Alongside Stewart’s appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, He has several other new projects, such as Netflix’s upcoming animated show Barbaric, which is based on a comic book series. The adaptation will be directed by Michael Bay and star Hunger Games actor Sam Claflin, alongside Stewart.

The actor has reprised the role multiple times over the years. His return in the MCU’s 2022 movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was praised by viewers. The reactions alone proved that generations of Marvel fans are still eager to see Stewart as the iconic mutant regardless of age.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026. All the existing Avengers movies (The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame) can now be streamed on Disney+.
