PlayStation might not be the most popular brand in the eyes of players right now, but those who are locked into the PS5 are likely still playing it for the time being regardless. Happily, there is still plenty of fun to be had with the existing range, even if you’re retiscent about investing more money into the company moving forward, after their decision on physical media.
One of the best ways to get great value out of the console is to subscribe to PlayStation Plus, with each month bringing a raft of new games that you can download and keep forever. The latest set of those is now live, and there’s more than $100 worth of games available, if you move to claim them quickly.
Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora ($30)
The biggest hitter of the bunch is undoubtedly Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora, a third and first-person action-adventure game set in the Western Frontier. The story follows the player, a Na’vi, who after spending years in captivity, reemerges into freedom in order to reconnect with their homeland and learn more about their people.
As you might expect, that also ends up involving protecting Pandora from encroaching forces, in what is one of the most underrated games of the last few years.
Firefighting Simulator: Ignite ($40)
As the name suggests for this one, you’ll be stepping into the heat-proof boots of a firefighter, who needs to battle raging infernos, either solo or with friends. You’ll also be doing all the other associated activities, like breaking through doors with entirely authentic tools, in what is one of the best simulators around right now. They’ve also gone all in on the physics for this one, making it a much more visceral experience than you otherwise might expect.
Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy ($15)
Developed by Midway Games all the way back in 2005, there is still plenty of fun to be had with Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, despite its age. In it, you get access to various psychic powers, all of which you’ll employ against foes you come up against in the game’s combat sections.
Indigo Prophecy ($15)
Last but not least is Indigo Prophecy (or Fahrenheit as it was known in other regions), the Quantic Dream produced adventure game that really laid the foundations for the spectacular narrative experiences the developer has brought out since. Heavy Rain is obviously the one that draws all the attention, but without this effort, that may have never come to fruition at all.
That’s the selection for this month, but make sure to check back in August to see what PlayStation Plus has coming up for subscribers.
