Red Dead Redemption 3 might easily be Rockstar’s most anticipated sequel after Grand Theft Auto 6, and gamers have been speculating for years now what shape the game might take. There’s great debate over just about every aspect of the next game in the franchise, from the timeline to the setting to the story itself and beyond.
Maybe one of the biggest conversation pieces surrounding the third installment, which is almost certain to happen at some point down the road, pertains the game’s eventual characters. Red Dead Redemption‘s protagonists and supporting characters are absolutely iconic, and many fans simply aren’t ready to leave the Van der Linde gang behind.
While some players want Rockstar to move toward an entirely new cast, others continue to push for more Arthur Morgan-related stories, something that could very well be in the cards after Arthur’s voice actor, Roger Clark, recently hinted at a potential return to the franchise (via Dexerto).
In a recent interview with iconic Red Dead Redemption 2 actor Roger Clark, he sat down and discussed the future of the franchise and gave fans a lot to think about regarding Arthur Morgan’s potential future. While he hasn’t confirmed his return in Red Dead Redemption 3, he officially expressed a willing eagerness to reprise the iconic role.
Clark says that Red Dead Redemption 3 “absolutely could be a brand-new story with some possible cameos of some familiar characters,” and that if Rockstar gave him a call he would pick up the phone with zero hesitation. The revelation is an interesting one, because it not only confirms that there’s potential for Arthur to make a comeback in some form, but also that Rockstar has not reached out to Clark about RDR3 to date.
In a time when Rockstar is notoriously silent about any information on their highly anticipated projects, these sort of updates are extremely rare, even if they are quite vague. It’s easily the most information fans have received from someone connected to the Red Dead Redemption franchise outside of leaks and rumors in a long time, and it’s certain to add a bit of fuel to the speculation fire regarding the third installment.
As of this writing, there’s virtually no information on Red Dead Redemption 3, and Rockstar hasn’t even confirmed that the game will happen. However, as Clark points out, “I think it would be crazy not to do another one … I’m sure we will see one, but I think it’s going to be a long time.”
