Steam has just dropped a new open-world game that you can download and keep forever, no strings attached. There’s been a nice influx of freebies to grab on the platform lately. Though the latest Next Fest has come to an end, with several of the free demos being removed, there are still entirely free titles to claim. For example, Steam dropped a huge RPG for free a few days ago, and you can start playing it right now.
Now, another entirely free game has been released on Steam, and you can already head on over to grab it and keep it forever. Once you claim this open-world game via its product page on the platform, it will be added permanently to your library. From there, you can download the title at any moment, making it entirely yours to keep, as long as it remains listed on Steam. Given the popularity of its genre, however, you may want to put it at the top of your backlog, rather than the far end.
The new open-world free game on Steam is called Mesozoic Dawn. Developed and published by NEXTINDIE, the title is an online multiplayer survival game, not unlike ARK: Survival Evolved. However, instead of controlling a human who has to survive a harsh world filled with dinosaurs and other creatures, you will be controlling a dinosaur. You’ll start off as a juvenile dinosaur, surviving and growing in a rendering of prehistoric wilderness.
However, through the Spawn & Evolve system, you’ll be able to go through an evolutionary process, which will allow your species to become the apex of the ecosystem. There are over 70 species to pick and evolve into in this free dinosaur game on Steam. Mesozoic Dawn has deep survival gameplay systems to keep players on their toes, including hunger, thirst, stress, and injury, as well as temperature, humidity, and oxygen, which will affect every decision you make.
There are numerous choices you can make in every playthrough, from the reproduction style your creature uses to gender, the materials that make your dinosaur’s nest, the way you battle, and much more. The best part is that you can enjoy it with friends and even against other players in outright PvP, as you all battle for resources and territory, as is the case with some of the very best survival games available.
