Tom Holland’s references to the message of Spider-Man: Brand New Day makes all the most intense crossover theories about the MCU movie look as though they’re that much more likely to come true in the film itself. The staggering success of Spider-Man’s most recent movie trilogy means there’s a colossal amount of excitement for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and a similar level of curiosity around how the release will follow up on the dramatic ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Thus far, we already know that at least the Hulk and the Punisher will play roles in Brand New Day – though plenty of theories have emerged about other prospective figures who could be revealed as a part of the film’s cast later on, particularly given Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s trailers have already shown Peter fighting The Hand, who are often more commonly antagonists for Daredevil instead.
With theories abound about how Spider-Man: Brand New Day could feature just about every hero under the sun who’s had so much as seconds in the MCU timeline thus far, it’s interesting to note that Tom Holland’s own latest comments about the movie suggest its message gives it the perfect excuse to bring in some more cameos and crossovers in the upcoming movie.
Tom Holland’s Comments About Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Story Make A Range Of Crossover Theories Even More Viable
In Tom Holland’s interview on Good Hang with Amy Poehler – where the two discuss a wide range of topics – the actor naturally delved a little into his role as Spider-Man, and the significance of his time in the role, as well as what’s in store with the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
When discussing this latter matter, Holland mentioned that a key message of the film is about not isolating yourself, and on the importance of building a community, stating:
“My proudest thing about this new movie is the message… because I think the message is so important for young people. In this digital age, it’s so easy to sit at home of an evening and just scroll through your phone and just turn your mind to mush and to forget about how important socializing is.”
While this is significant in terms of laying out the lesson of sorts it seems the movie will teach, the idea that Brand New Day will see Peter realize he does need to reach out to others does make the theories about the various crossovers and cameos that could be in the film – which include everyone from Daredevil to the X-Men – seem more viable, if the core message and story of the film is about Spider-Man learning to seek out others and reintegrate back into the world after isolating himself.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Teased Message Also Makes Spider-Man Appearing In Avengers: Doomsday Seem More Possible Too
While Spider-Man was a focal fixture of major MCU crossover stories previously, thanks to his ties to Iron Man giving him roles in Captain America: Civil War and then Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the death of Tony Stark combined with everyone forgetting Peter Parker is Spider-Man in the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home made it seem as though Spider-Man would be going it alone for the foreseeable future.
However, if Spider-Man: Brand New Day is all about the importance of togetherness, it would stand to reason more than ever for the web-swinging hero to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, since it’s the next major crossover story for the MCU, and one that seems to be big enough it could feasibly include just about every hero it has an excuse to.
Given Spider-Man is also one of the MCU’s biggest and most beloved heroes, it would make a lot of practical sense for Avengers: Doomsday to feature Tom Holland’s hero here too, meaning the overarching trajectory for the franchise does seem as though it may have both in-universe and real-world reasons it would make sense for Spider-Man to share the screen with plenty of other Marvel heroes both in Spider-Man: Brand New Day itself, and then in Avengers: Doomsday afterward.
