After four seasons of flashy celebrity appearances, The Bear season 5 felt much more grounded. Actors who were once noteworthy additions to the show, like Will Poulter’s Luca and Jamie Lee Curtis’ Donna, settled into the world in the show’s final season, feeling more like regulars who were supposed to be there.
Even more importantly, The Bear solved its cameo and guest star problem by introducing very few new characters in season 5. As The Bear neared its end, John Mulaney’s Stevie returned, and glimpses of Molly Gordon’s Claire and Bob Odenkirk’s Lee could be caught. Even so, there were no other major celebrity drop-ins, but the season’s one notable new character may still seem familiar.
In a storyline separate from the restaurant’s intense, storm-riddled service, The Bear season 5 introduced Terry “Cheese” Cheddario as the Computer’s equally math-savvy, socially unique niece. Her help was enlisted by Oliver Platt’s Jimmy as he attempted to find ways to salvage a profit from his investment in The Bear, deepening the stakes to a level the show had never seen before.
Season 5 saw Jimmy in a new and vulnerable position that amplified the consequences of the restaurant team’s endeavors. The addition of Cheese cemented that it had become an all-hands-on-deck situation, and also shed some light on the personal life of the Computer. Though not quite a cameo-level celebrity, the actor who portrayed Cheese already had an impressive resume before The Bear season 5.
What Other Shows And Movies Elsie Fisher Has Been In Before The Bear’s Final Season
The 23-year-old Elsie Fisher began acting as early as 2009 with a guest role on the eerie crime procedural Medium. They then went on to voice one of the daughters of Steve Carell’s Gru in the hit Despicable Me, a massively popular streaming franchise that is still expanding today. Years later, Fisher starred in Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade and the 2022 Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
In television, Fisher starred in the second season of the Stephen King adaptation, Castle Rock, alongside Lizzy Caplan and Tim Robbins. They then had a recurring role on Bill Hader’s Barry, where they played Sally’s on-screen co-star. Shortly after, they appeared on the second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty as Conrad and Jeremiah’s cousin, Skye.
Though perhaps not yet a household name, Cheese’s Fisher has had memorable stints in every genre, from horror to teenage romance. Still on the horizon is Monkey Quest, an animated movie that Fisher will be lending their voice to, along with Adam DeVine and J.K. Simmons.

Elsie Fisher’s Cheese Turned Out To Be A Critical Character In The Bear Season 5
The significant amount of startup money that Jimmy loaned Carmy to open The Bear has always been a point of suspense and tension, but even as Jimmy grew to want the restaurant to succeed on an emotional level, The Bear season 5 made it a necessity to see a return on the investment. For the first time, the show put Jimmy in a true position of weakness.
After having long been something of a fatherly loan shark, Jimmy was revealed to have made some bad deals unrelated to the restaurant that had left him broke and desperate. It was rare to see Jimmy so powerless, and the reality of his situation was underscored by the number of favors he called in throughout the season, including enlisting the help of Cheese.
Cheese’s eye for numbers, mathematics, and business proved to be a guiding force for Jimmy, one that led him to ultimately embrace Ebra’s idea of franchising The Beef with ghost kitchens in the suburbs. This decision was a major component of The Bear’s overall heartwarming ending that made sure to give each character a personal win.
Despite preparing to give a long, hard-fought pitch, everyone from the Computer to Jimmy, Cheese to Carmy, recognized the merits of Ebra’s idea on the spot, validating his hard work and promising the longevity of the restaurant in one plot point. Thanks to Fisher’s Cheese, The Bear will likely live on even as The Bear comes to a close.
