Prime Video‘s upcoming dragon series has the potential to be one of the best fantasy series to date, and based on a new update, it could not be off to a better start. Fantasy shows have been conquering streaming charts over the past few years. That all started when Game of Thrones went on to dominate global chatter for a decade.
Even now that one of the best fantasy series ever has ended, and with a divisive final season at that, the Game of Thrones franchise is still immensely popular, thanks to its two successful spinoffs: House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. That said, recent hit fantasy shows do not solely come from the world of Westeros, with several exciting franchises and universes adapted for the small screen.
Prime Video’s best shows include two animated series from Critical Role’s world of Exandria, The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein, both of which are genre masterpieces. The streamer is also the home of the most expensive fantasy TV show of all time, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Now, it will welcome a dragon-focused fantasy series.
Prime Video’s Fourth Wing series is in development, with no current official release date. The upcoming fantasy series will adapt the Empyrean series of novels by Rebecca Yarros, which introduces an action-packed world of dragon riders and powerful magic. After an actor’s comment, Fourth Wing‘s future could be even brighter than expected.
Prime Video’s Fourth Wing Series Has The Perfect First Casting Waiting
At the time of writing, no official casting announcements have come out regarding Prime Video’s Fourth Wing series. However, while the new live-action dragon series is in pre-production, the perfect actor has revealed that she would love to play Fourth Wing‘s most important character. Speaking to Film Updates, Obsession star Inde Navarrette revealed that the role she most wants to take on is that of Violet Sorrengail on Prime Video’s Fourth Wing series, saying, “I am a huge Fourth Wing fan.” According to the rising star, she has been secretly keeping tabs on the role.
Casting Navarrette as Violet would be a major move for the Prime Video dragon series. After all, Sorrengail is the franchise’s protagonist, so casting a young star like the 25-year-old Navarrette, who is off one of the best performances in horror ever in one of the most exciting box office success stories in a long time in the form of Curry Barker’s Obsession would be just what the new Prime Video series needs to stand out.
The fact that Navarrette is a massive Fourth Wing fan makes the casting a match made in heaven, and executive producer Michael B. Jordan is seemingly aware, as he has been liking her Instagram posts lately.
Why Fourth Wing Could Become Prime Video’s Best Fantasy Series
Besides the possibility of casting Navarrette as Violet Sorrengail, Prime Video’s Fourth Wing series is off to a great start with all the talent confirmed to be involved with the new dragon show. Coming off his first Best Actor Oscar win, Jordan is an executive producer on the fantasy series. Westworld duo Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are also part of the show, with the former an executive producer and the latter also set to direct Fourth Wing‘s first episode in addition to executive producing. With showrunner Meredith Averill (Wednesday/The Haunting of Hill House), Fourth Wing is in good hands.
On top of that, Prime Video’s new fantasy series has a solid foundation to build up from, as Yarros has already published three books in the series, with more already confirmed to be on the way. The success of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon also shows that viewers yearn for more high-stakes fantasy series with dragons, something that Fourth Wing will be all about, given its storyline about dragon riders and the unique bond and powers that come from a human and a dragon interacting. With an epic scope and Navarrette’s possible casting, Fourth Wing should be a hit.
