The Elder Scrolls Online has made it its responsibility to uplift and sustain the high-fantasy RPG franchise as a live-service MMORPG in light of The Elder Scrolls VI’s continued absence. The Elder Scrolls Online is almost as old as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, to be clear, and it’s seemingly never been more popular or successful than in the last couple of years, suggesting that it has a healthy shelf life ahead of it yet.
However, while The Elder Scrolls Online had used a different release schedule for its content updates, DLC, and Chapters for more than a decade, it only recently adopted a seasonal model. And, with its first season coming to an end, the future of The Elder Scrolls Online appears to be quite fruitful.
The Elder Scrolls Online is currently enjoying a celebratory period of transition and celebration, as Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk officially comes to an end this week. Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk began on April 2 and ends in two days’ time, on July 8, marking the beginning of Season One.
In particular, Season Zero ends at 10 AM ET. Thanks to a bit of a roadmap of the week that was shared by the official Elder Scrolls Online social media account on Twitter/X, it’s been revealed that Season One will then start at 1 PM ET on the same day, with new seasonal items becoming available at the Gold Coast Bazaar’s in-game storefront.
But Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk isn’t all that’s ending on July 8, with The Elder Scrolls 6’s annual Zeal of Zenithar event also concluding on this momentous day. Then, on July 11, The Elder Scrolls Online will host its annual ESO Tavern event, broadcast on Bethesda’s official Twitch channel.
As for Season One itself, The Elder Scrolls Online will feature a banquet of new content. This includes the “Crimson Veldt trial, the High Seas of Tamriel event, new Thieves Guild and Sheogorath questlines, and three brand-new content systems,” per ESO-Hub.
With The Elder Scrolls Online seasons being roughly three months long, we can expect Season One to end in October. Even broader roadmaps have been previously unveiled for what these seasons will entail, such as visual refreshes for specific classes and abilities, and it will be fascinating to see how Season One compares to Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk when the dust settles in The Elder Scrolls Online’s Tamriel in a couple of days.
The Elder Scrolls Online’s Season One is scheduled to be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on July 8, 2026.
